The most recent Iraq war in historical context, written by Arabic historian Rashid Khalidi. You know, the so-called domestic terrorist, whose presentation Obama supposedly attended and McCain/Palin wanted a video of in the last month of the campaign. Provides a telling timeline of western intervention in the middle east, thorough explanations and analyses of arab response and a heckuvalot more. Basically, it expounds on the notion that America—on principle alone—was doomed from the get-go. I’m actually supposed to be reading this right now for my next class, but I’ve opted to blog about it instead.
